In January 2016, THE PLAZA Seoul entered a partnership with Marriott International to become the first Korean property in the Autograph Collection luxury lifestyle brand, combining the strengths of an international chain and a local hotel to deliver an even finer luxury hotel experience.
Autograph Collection is a luxury lifestyle brand in the portfolio of global hotel group Marriott International. While many conventional chain hotels adhere to uniform guidelines, each Autograph Collection boutique destination reflects the culture, art and design of its locale in facilities, services and all other aspects of the hotel experience. THE PLAZA Seoul began its partnership with the Autograph Collection brand on January 1, 2016, joining more than 100 destinations in major cities throughout the United States and Europe.
Our “P” logo is based on a motif of continuity and development, presenting the image of a luxury boutique hotel built on tradition. Its design is a visualization of the link between past, present and future. Three knots symbolize the links between past heritage, the present moment and future development, while the gaps between each knot signify that these links are not momentary connections but grow creative breakthroughs in other dimensions. The basic purple logo color manifests the prestige and class of Korea's premier hotel, while reflecting the hotel's stylish design concept.
This unique logo design represents THE PLAZA Seoul's forward-looking and creative luxury boutique values – never relying on the passing of time but always developing through new values.
I created an original, sensual contemporary design for THE PLAZA, so that it would become a symbol of
the Korean capital, Seoul. Using the boutique concept as a code to transform the characteristics of a luxury
hotel, which can be quite rigid and formal, I presented an aesthetic of maximum comfort and beauty.

THE PLAZA Seoul is the creation of world-renowned Italian interior designer Guido Ciompi.
Active primarily in European cities such as Milan, Venice and Florence, Ciompi has applied his concept of combining
unique forms, sensual colors and natural aesthetics to THE PLAZA Seoul, creating a remarkable Seoul destination in a style
found nowhere else in the world. He has designed not only interiors but individual items of furniture in guest rooms,
expressing the unique values of a true luxury boutique hotel.
