The 5th Showcase Exhibition presents Jade Master Jang Joo-Won’s works. Master Jang has been recognized as Intangible Cultural Asset No. 100 by the Korean Government. Having lived 50 years with a passion for jade carving, he is famous worldwide for elaborate designs that pioneered the field in Korea.
Jade is an important Asian gem that stands for patience and mildness. Unlike flashy gemstones that reflect the light outward, its beautiful soft light is directed towards itself. For this quality, jade has long been thought of as the gem that represents the oriental philosophy of humbleness.
